The Little Egg Harbor Police Department is committed to providing the highest quality service to both residents and visitors of Little Egg Harbor Township. We achieve this by offering various programs and initiatives designed to enhance the overall quality of life in our community. Below, you’ll find information on some of the active community outreach programs currently provided by the Little Egg Harbor Police Department.
Distracted Driving Initiative
The Little Egg Harbor Police Department is proud to announce our new Distracted Driving Initiative, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.
Distracted driving is a serious issue with tragic consequences. In 2023, it accounted for 3,275 deaths in the United States. Closer to home, in New Jersey, 48% of drivers involved in crashes were engaged in distracted behavior, leading to 160 fatalities and over 1,400 serious injuries.
To help decrease these alarming statistics, our officers will be conducting high-visibility enforcement patrols throughout Little Egg Harbor Township. Our focus is not on writing tickets, but rather preventing accidents and informing the public about the risks of distracted driving. When drivers are stopped for distracted driving during this initiative, our officers will provide a pamphlet detailing the dangers and the associated fines.
Our ultimate goal is for the citizens of Little Egg Harbor to do their part by being responsible, safe drivers and helping us lower these grim statistics.

Opioid Awareness Campaign
In 2025, the Little Egg Harbor Police Department launched comprehensive opioid awareness campaigns focused on prevention and education. Our initiatives include the Citizens Police Academy, where participants receive training in Naloxone deployment and CPR, leading to CPR certification upon completion. Additionally, the campaign distributes materials that provide crucial information on administering Naloxone during an opioid overdose. The overall goal is to reduce opioid use within the community. Blue Envelope Program
The Little Egg Harbor Police Department has joined the “Blue Envelope” program. This program is all about making our interactions with individuals on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) smoother and more supportive during traffic stops or motor vehicle interactions. What is the Blue Envelope Program? It is a special tool designed to ensure clear and respectful communication between individuals with ASD and our officers. Inside, you will find all the important documents you need for a traffic stop: Driver’s License, Registration, Insurance Card and Emergency Contact. The envelope includes easy-to-follow instructions printed on the front making the interaction easy between the individual and the police officers. The Blue Envelope also lets us know if the individual is verbal or non-verbal, ensuring we communicate in the best way possible. If you or your loved ones would benefit from this program, please stop by and pick up a Blue Envelope at the Little Egg Harbor Police Department, Records Office, 665 Radio Road, or by contacting Sgt. James Fehring with the Community Services Unit 609-296-3666 ext. 695.
