Our Mission
The members of the Little Egg Harbor Police Department are committed to providing the highest levels of service through community partnerships which build trust, reduce crime, maintain order through effective and impartial law enforcement, protect the constitutional rights of all people, and enhance the quality of life in our community.
Our vision is to create an environment that is free from fear of crime, where all residents and visitors can live their lives feeling safe and are confident that we will respond to their calls for assistance when they need us.

Our History
From as early as the late 1600’s, protection for the rural inhabitants of Little Egg Harbor and its surrounding areas was dependent upon watchmen, constables and later the county sheriff and his deputies. In 1921 The New Jersey State Police were created, and assumed the primary law enforcement duties of the then rural township. This continued through the late 1960’s although, there are some records that indicate that Little Egg Harbor intermittently employed part-time special police officers.
